Is It Really Self-Sabotage? A New Perspective on Growth and Change
Have you ever felt like you’re getting in your own way? Maybe you’ve committed to an alcohol-free life, but you still find yourself stuck—procrastinating, overthinking, or playing small. It’s easy to label this as self-sabotage, but what if that’s not actually the problem?
Here’s the truth: you’re not broken, and you’re not deliberately working against yourself. What we call self-sabotage is often just a sign that something deeper is at play—old patterns, limiting beliefs, and a nervous system wired for safety over change. Instead of fighting ourselves, what if we got curious?
In this week’s podcast episode, I’m peeling back the layers on why we struggle to move forward—even when we want to—and how rewriting our internal stories can change everything. Here’s what we’ll explore:
- Resistance: Why change—even a positive one—can feel like an uphill battle, and how to work with resistance instead of against it.
- The Comfort Zone Trap: Why we cling to what’s familiar, even when it no longer serves us, and how to step into growth without overwhelm.
- Fear of Failure (or Success!): How both can create hesitation, and why stepping into your full potential can feel just as scary as falling short.
- Perfectionism: Why the “all-or-nothing” mindset keeps us stuck, and how to embrace progress over perfection.
By identifying and shifting our limiting beliefs, we can change not just our alcohol-free journey, but every part of our lives.
Even after we’ve ditched alcohol, these patterns don’t just disappear. They can sneak into how we approach our health, our work, our relationships—even how we dream about the future. But the good news? Once we recognize what’s really happening, we can stop blaming ourselves and start creating the life we truly want.
